I agree with the statement which says that actions speaks louder than words. I think that I am the kind of person who tends to make a statement before I achieve something that I need. In my case, it is very helpful for me to make a statement before I take some actions, or “making a statement follows action”.
Last summer, I was on a diet. I was not sure that I could lose some weight, but, anyway, I made the statement to my friends and family. Consequently, I lost twenty pounds last summer.
In addition, talking of my sister, she said that she wanted to go to Columbia University. Then she started to study hard. At that time nobody believed that she could go to Columbia University, but she did. I think that these are good examples for making statement before people take action.
However, sometimes it does not work. If you could not achieve your goal with making a statement, you just lose your confidence. For instance, my father always says that he wants to stop smoking, but he never stops it. This is the reason to why sometimes I agree with the statement of “action speaks louder than words”.
Finally, I actually think which is better to make a statement first or to take a action first depends on the people. In my examples of my sister and I, making statements first helped to achieve our goal. On the other hand, my father speaks loudly about his statement, but he never takes action. So he just lose his confidence. I deem that both have merit, but making statements first helps person to achieve their goals strongly and efficiently.
