Since I moved to the United States, the obesity is the biggest concern for me. I understand our culture and eating habits arise from this problem. I realized that eating animals, which are raised with contaminated feed and mass-produced by huge industrial processes is unhealthy. It is evident to me that industrially created “foods” are making us all sick.

However, I am not going to be a strict vegetarian. I sometimes I will enjoy eating burgers or steak with my friends and family making sure the beef is grass fed or organic. I will eliminate going to fast food restaurant and eating very poor quality industrial animal foods, tons of sugar and lots of processed garbage, because it easily available. The good news is that sustainably raised and naturally fed animal products are easily available now.

You really don’t have to go vegetarian to be healthy. We just have to be sure to avoid the industrial toxins that can make you sick by choosing only clean, pasture raised animal products produced naturally and humanely. I will also change my diet by mainly eat fish and plant-based. By cooking and preparing my food myself as much as possible and cooking traditional Japanese cuisine will also help my diet.

The obesity rate of the United States is 38.2 percent, right now. CDC predicts that the obesity rate of the United States will reach to 50 percent in 2030. I agree the prediction. If Americans think fast food chain restaurants, such as McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC and Wendy’s are their culture, the obesity rate will reach to 50 percent. Americans have to build healthy eating habit by considering where their foods come from. Creating a plan to adopt a healthier lifestyle can be challenging, but if you stick with it long enough it will make you feel happier and healthier. When we eat healthy, we physically feel good. We mentally have more energy to do the things that matter.
